Understanding Your Bill

  • Rate Information
    • Retail Sales Service Options
      • Primary Service option
        • Commercial and Public Authority Sales Service
          • This is the primary sales service rate used by commercial and public authority customers who are not transporting. The charges for this service are unbundled into two primary service charges: delivery charges and natural gas supply charges. Customers under this service can choose to receive natural gas supply service from a supplier other than National Fuel. There are currently 3 sub-categories for this class: Small Commercial/Public Authority (<250 Mcf/Year), Lower Limit; Small Commercial/Public Authority (>250 Mcf/Year), Upper Limit; and Large Commercial.
        • Small Volume Industrial Service (SVIS)
          • This is a firm sales service for small industrial customers using less than 1,000 Mcf per year, who are not transporting. The charges for this service are unbundled into two primary service charges: delivery charges and natural gas supply charges. Customers under this service can choose to receive natural gas supply service from a supplier other than National Fuel.
        • Intermediate Volume Industrial Service (IVIS)
          • This is a firm sales service for medium-sized industrial customers using more than 1,000 Mcf but less than 50,000 Mcf per year, who are not transporting. The charges for this service are unbundled into two primary service charges: delivery charges and natural gas supply charges. Customers under this service can choose to receive natural gas supply service from a supplier other than National Fuel.
        • Large Volume Industrial Service (LVIS)
          • This is a firm sales service for large sized industrial customers using more than 50,000 Mcf but less than 200,000 Mcf per year, who are not transporting. The charges for this service are unbundled into two primary service charges: delivery charges and natural gas supply charges. Customers under this service can choose to receive natural gas supply service from a supplier other than National Fuel.
        • Large Industrial Service (LIS)
          • This is a firm bundled sales service for large sized industrial customers using more than 200,000 Mcf per year, who are not transporting. The charges for this service are unbundled into two primary service charges: delivery charges and natural gas supply charges. Customers under this service can choose to receive natural gas supply service from a supplier other than National Fuel.
      • Technology-Based Services
        • Sales Service for Customers Operating Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV)
          • This is a firm sales service for customers using gas in Natural Gas Vehicles, utilizing either National Fuel - owned or customer - owned filling facilities.
      • Other Service Options
        • Load Balancing Service
          • This is a firm sales, demand based service for commercial, public authority and industrial customers with incremental load in load balancing facilities.
        • Bypass Service
          • This service is mandatory for customers who have installed bypass facilities.
    • Transportation Service Options
      • Primary Services
        • Monthly Metered Transportation Service (MMT)
          • This is the primary transportation service used by most large volume (greater than 5,000 Mcf/Year) customers. The customer is billed for their entire transportation usage, regardless of whether the gas supplies are purchased from National Fuel and/or a marketer. This rate is for firm transportation and requires firm capacity on all upstream pipelines.
        • Daily Metered Transportation Service (DMT)
          • This is an alternative transportation service realistically suitable to only a small group of unbundled customers. It requires telemetering, installed at the customer's expense, to monitor daily deliveries and usage, since imbalances between the two are calculated every day (as opposed to monthly for MMT). Although less expensive than MMT, DMT requires more work for the customer and leaves less room for error in nominations.
      • Aggregation Services
        • Small Aggregation Transportation Customer Service (SATC)
          • A transportation service that allows a qualified customer to receive their gas supply from a qualified supplier of the customer’s choosing. The customer will receive a bill for transportation services under this program from National Fuel. The supplier has the option to have national Fuel include the gas cost supply costs and other charges on their National Fuel bill or to bill the customer on a separate bill. This program is open to all customers EXCEPT those currently receiving service under any of the following rate schedules: Low Income Residential Assistance (LIRA), Large Volume Industrial Service (LVIS), or Large Industrial Service (LIS).
        • Small Aggregation Transportation Supplier Service (SATS)
          • Available to suppliers which have obtained the consent and appointment of at least 50 customers with a total minimum of 5,000 Mcf per year. The supplier agrees to assume primary responsibility for the gas supply obligations for that group of SATC customers. The SATS supplier is also subject to the Supplier Aggregation charges and supply requirements as contained in the tariff.
      • Other Services
        • Bypass Service
          • This is a mandatory service for customers who have installed bypass facilities.
    • Sales Service for Transportation
      • Standby Services
        • Priority Standby Sales Service (PSB)
          • This is a "reserved" back-up sales service which acts as insurance against any unplanned shortfalls. It is a firm sales service, and is required for Priority 1 customers who do not have dual fuel or alternate fuel capability.
        • Standby Sales Service (SB)
          • This is a "reserved" back-up sales service which acts as insurance against any unplanned shortfalls.
